Completely agree with this.
What’s really helped me is not starting with “what can I automate?”, but first writing down every details of the every task I actually do in a day — even the small stuff. When you see it on one sheet, it’s eye-opening how much time goes into things we don’t even notice.
Once you have that, it becomes much easier to separate what truly needs automation from what doesn’t. A lot of tasks just need better structure or habits — not AI nor automation and definitely not more tools.
Your approach of starting with friction and blockers fits perfectly with this. It keeps automation focused on real impact instead of just adding more tools.2
