This is my first post here, and I wanted to contribute something genuinely useful.Over the last few days, I completed a full production-ready n8n self-hosting setup on a VPS — using a real domain, proper HTTPS, and working Google Sheets & Drive OAuth (no localhost or IP shortcuts).
It turned out to be more nuanced than expected. Issues like DNS conflicts, port bindings, HTTPS failures, OAuth redirect errors, and missing Google Drive access broke things multiple times.
Since I had to debug each of these anyway, I documented the entire end-to-end process as a clean, step-by-step SOP covering what to do, why it’s needed, and how to fix common failures.
It’s currently text-based (forgot screenshots while debugging ), but I plan to add visuals later.

@sanjaymathur I have messaged you all the details. regarding the costing – I spent around 1k INR (399rs monthly subscription for KVM1 option from hostinger and 570rs for DNS for 1 year from godaddy). hope this helps!
