Have you ever paused to think about the pain and uncertainty these labourers endure every single day?
In every city in India, you’ll find them at labour chaurahas, chasing potential clients between 8 and 10 AM, competing fiercely with others for a day’s work. They are the true atmswabhimani citizens of India—those who refuse to turn to crime, instead choosing to earn an honest living for their families. After 10 AM, some still wait, clinging to the hope that someone will hire them so they can afford bread for the day.
They work without shelter in every season—under harsh winter winds, heavy rains, and scorching summer heat. They are the backbone of our society, building and maintaining our homes, yet unable to afford a home of their own due to poverty. While we stay in cool comfort during summer or safe indoors on rainy days, they stand outside, sometimes shivering in thin clothes during winter.
These are the most marginalized members of our community. I have felt their pain, and at the age of 65, I decided to act. Myself, a management postgraduate of the 90s, I am now learning AI and building the SabSewa mobile app to make it easy to list these labourers across every Indian city. The app is linked with my Hindu Worlds Digital Directory, creating a unified platform for verified hiring. Almost every sector in India is moving online, yet this segment remains untouched. That’s why SabSewa, meaning “all services,” enables citizens to hire directly through a verified digital directory with police-verified profiles, at the same fair rates as in person—without the struggle of visiting a labour chauraha.
We charge a modest 5% service fee to sustain the platform, ensuring fairness for both clients and workers. The project has been live for a year, but despite applying for startup seed fund, I couldn’t secure government seed funding due to the intense competition in incubator programs.
I now seek support from venture capitalists or any investor willing to join me on an equity basis. Together, we can transform the lives of millions of honest labourers, giving them dignity, security, and steady work—while making hiring easier, safer, and more transparent for every citizen.
